Album Review: Lady Antebellum – Need You Now

This is Lady Antebellum’s latest success after winning a Grammy last January 31 (Edit; this year they won Song of the Year and Record of the Year for the title track single at the Grammy’s). The album reached #1 on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart. The album is not different from their debut album when it comes to sound, but you can say that it they’ve grown so much in just a year. They still stick to the popular country album formula which just shows that they are still on the safe zone. They might be afraid to break barriers but definitely they weren’t afraid of a sophomore slump. This album is more inspiring that their first one. It has songs which will easily move people by just the lyrics and what would happen if it has an amazing sound recording. What’s so good about this album is that each track has an interesting hook. The album almost sounded like a Pop record which I thought it somehow a good thing. The only thing that I didn’t like is that it’s not a coherent album. Each track was different from each other which pretty much loses the idea of an album. “Perfect Day” is one of my favorite tracks from the album. it’s got the “happy” and “fun” feeling on it. “Hello World” just moved me into tears. The piano and electric guitar arrangement is just perfect plus Charles’ vocals is an epic addition to this track. “American Honey” is one of those tracks that is like-able and has potential to be one of the best country songs written. This band has so much potential and I think they would do great at next year’s grammy awards and this year could be their year just based in this album and single-wise.
